3 month SEO plan

Overview

UB Academy is a brand new company with little to no reputation, getting it to rank high in Google amongst long standing competitors was our task. We built the website back in October so we had knowledge of what the company was about, what services they provide and the audience they wanted to attract. 

1. Competitor research

We provided in depth research into UB Academy’s competitors. This included the keywords they rank for, the quality of their content and the services they provided, this way we can find areas where we can improve on. 


As you can with the image, by the end of our 3 month SEO plan, UB Academy was number one on the visibility score compared to their competitors.

2. Keyword research

On this occasion we were instructed to use 10 specific keywords/phrases the client had sent to us. The client’s aim was to appear locally in search results using phrases such as ‘Botox training courses Wirral’ or ‘Dermal filler courses in Wirral’. Additionally, we also pin pointed the surrounding areas of Chester and the Merseyside region for their search terms to gauge more traction. 

3. Keywords + content delivery

Once the keywords were sorted, the next step was to build content around those keywords. Our objective was to create bespoke and relevant content whilst maintaining the current structure of the website we initially designed. The number of keywords used for each page was dependant on the word count, in our case we added around 8 keywords for each page. Furthermore, we added the keywords to the alt tags on all images giving the SEO a boost. To let Google know what each page is about, we added the keywords in the header tags as well e.g H1, H2, H3 etc.

 

You can see the bespoke content mixed with the keywords had a massive impact on the visibility of UB Academy. It went from 2% to 37.18% in that 3 month period.

4. Speed optimisation

One of the key tasks of SEO is having a high performing website. When we built the website in October we had this in mind. We uploaded optimised images in WEBP format to minimise the load time of each page which resulted in a good LCP (largest contentful paint) score. Furthermore, we kept the plugin usage to a minimum reducing the bloat on the website as a whole and decreasing excess JavaScript and CSS.

Conclusion

At the start of our 3 month SEO plan, the client’s aim was to rank for 10 keywords in the local area. We went above and beyond that by ranking for over 32 keywords. This included keywords matched with local areas such as Wirral, Chester and Warrington. Furthermore we covered those keywords with Cheshire, Merseyside and North West too.

 

Overall, in a short period of time we moved above the competition for most of the selected keywords giving UB Academy a solid foundation to build from in the long term.
